Sabrina K. Garba, Phd(c)

Sabrina K. Garba is an award-winning executive global cultural business and communications strategist with almost 15 years of experience in business psychology, global organizational strategy, engagement, and leadership development centering corporate social responsibility, impact and equity. Sabrina is passionate about developing thriving cultural ecosystems where people are inspired to create, maximize, and amplify culturally agile, innovative and socially responsible work.

As the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Glass Ladder Group (GLG), Sabrina leads a collaborative of global experts in the development and execution of insights, strategy and capacity building focused on culture, communication and leadership. Through this work, Sabrina has become known for a proven track record in designing and implementing holistic solutions that reach organizational goals and objectives in the public, non-profit and private sectors.

Before starting GLG almost ten years ago, Ms. Garba served as the Acting Director of the Intercultural Management Institute (IMI) at American University (AU), a diplomatic and intercultural training center. At IMI, she oversaw all day-to-day operations and budgets including products, programs, services and publications. As Acting Director, she developed critical training programs for U.S. Department of State initiatives, managed the development and execution of the learning and development conference for cross-cultural experts while designing university-level training curriculum, case studies and scenarios. Prior to joining IMI, Sabrina managed the International Communication and Media Master’s programs at AU. In this role, she created graduate-level curriculum and programming focused on the impact of culture on technology, media, diplomacy, and international education. Additionally, Sabrina facilitated strategic partnerships with organizations that allowed scholars to gain media production skills and leverage research techniques that equipped them to lead teams of communication practitioners in creating, shaping and managing information across international media platforms.

Previous to her time at American University, Ms. Garba served as an independent global consultant supporting cross-cultural business exchange in Brazil; as well as integrated marketing communications efforts with United World Communication and Boland. As a consultant, Sabrina built relationships, strategies and systems that shaped organizational cultures and helped them to tell their unique story. Additionally, she worked with the elite Public Affairs firm, the Glover Park Group (now FGS Global), where she provided project support, developed collateral material and served as a client-firm and media liaison for organizations several organizations including, Participant Media, Rock The Vote, The White House Project, the NFL Players Association and the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund.

Ms. Garba served as an Adjunct Professor at American University’s School of International Service and has conducted various training workshops and guest lectures on communication, media, cross-cultural relations, entrepreneurship and leadership. Additionally, she has chaired and served as spokesperson for many initiatives including the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Project at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; and Ending Violence against Women Howard University (EVAWHU). She is a frequent commentator and keynote speaker on the subjects of culture, communication, business strategy, international affairs, social justice and women’s rights.

Ms. Garba’s work with organizations like Ballmer Group Philanthropy, the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command, Dollar Shave Club, the Southeast Efficiency Alliance, and the National Association for Minorities in Communication has led to shifts in organizational and governmental procedures, systems and policies. She is also the Founder of Honey Hive (HH), an inclusive empowerment community featuring a variety show for women who lead and the Women’s Impact Accelerator (WIA), a corporate social responsibility platform of GLG helping to accelerate the success and impact of women entrepreneurs and thought leaders. She has been recognized for her work through many awards including the 2015 Intercultural Achievement Award by the American University, School of International Service, the 2017 "Woman Who Disrupts" Entrepreneur Award by Lady ReBranded and City National Bank, the 2017 Walker's Legacy Los Angeles Power 25, a nomination as 2017 Women Business Enterprise Supplier of the Year by Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, a 2019 LABJ Women’s Council nomination and a 2019 Girls’ Choice Nomination.

In her spare time, Ms. Garba supports many non-profit efforts. Among her many volunteer efforts, she serves as the Chair of the Board for ArtworxLA where she contributes her expertise in board governance and strategic communications. Previously, she served as the President of the Howard University Alumni Club of Los Angeles, a Scholar Bridge Committee Member for the Fulfillment Fund, and supported Step Up Women’s Network as a Luminary Circle Member. Ms. Garba is an avid cultural and language aficionado who has traveled to six of the seven continents and is fluent in multiple languages.

Ms. Garba is currently a doctoral candidate focused on Business Psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology where she is studying the relationship between corporate social responsibility, corporate social advocacy and engagement. She is a certified cross-cultural trainer, psychometric analyst, and a graduate of two Dartmouth College, Tuck School of Business Minority Business Programs focused on building high-performing small businesses and digital excellence. Additionally, Sabrina has a Master’s in Corporate Communications and Public Relations from Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s in Communication and Culture from Howard University.
