The Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA), embarked on a mission to assess the landscape of energy equity within low-income communities bearing a high energy burden, facilitating the development of a coalition that would alleviate this burden. Through our in-depth process centering alignment, research, collaboration and engagement, we helped to uncover the existing challenges as well as more effective ways of addressing systemic inequities that were engaging, meaningful, and authentic to their stakeholders diverse industry perspectives, cultures, and values.

OUTCOMES

  • Conducted a thorough quantitative and qualitative research process to assess the state of energy and equity

  • Instituted participatory research processes and scenarios to enhance trust, responsiveness and collaboration

  • Partnered to manage and facilitate concurrent impact communications efforts

  • Introduced a process for authentic engagement centering alignment, research, and collaboration
